Ms. Werkmeister has nearly 30 years of experience in civil litigation in New Mexico, with an emphasis on civil rights, employment, medical malpractice, and tort disputes involving state, county, and governmental entities and officials, including school districts. Recent projects have included preparation of a U.S. Supreme Court amicus curiae brief, state and federal dispositive motions, appellate briefing, development of litigation strategies for complex disputes, trial preparation and trials, and coordination with counsel and parties to successfully implement strategies in class action lawsuits.

Before opening her own practice and making herself available to work with our clients, Ms. Werkmeister was a Shareholder with the Narvaez Law Firm, a Hearing Officer and Arbitrator for the City of Albuquerque, and an Associate at Kemp, Smith, Duncan & Howard, an Associate at Civerolo, Gralow, Hill & Curtis, an Associate at Pool, Kelly & Ramo, and a Special Prosecutor with Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office.

Ms. Werkmeister earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1992 and was Editor of the U.C.C. Reporter Digest. Her B.A. cum laude is from Colby College and she is a member, Phi Beta Kappa. She is admitted to practice in New Mexico, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Ms. Werkmeister has a particularly impressive record of public service. She is currently President-elect for the Albuquerque Jewish Community Center, and she has served in leadership positions at American Bar Association, Foster Foundation, Center for Civic Values, New Mexico BioPark Society, New Mexico Judicial Selection Commissions, Albuquerque Rape Crisis Center, New Mexico Defense Lawyer’s Association, Defense Research Institute, New Mexico Board of Bar Commissioners, New Mexico Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, Albuquerque Mayoral Commission on the Status of Women, and the Homeless Legal Clinic.
